And that&#8217;s good. He wrote (with Edmund Goldsmid) the 16 volume opus <em><a href=\"http:\/\/onlinebooks.library.upenn.edu\/webbin\/metabook?id=hakluyt\">The Principal Navigations, Voyages, Traffiques and Discoveries of the English Nation<\/a><\/em> (online Gutenberg). It was in here he wrote about the high cost of gross ignorance in marine accidents, the value of apprenticeships for sailors, the need for formal education, and grey hairs.
